Your Wheel of Life
Today, we will start with an assessment of you. A very important piece of prep work before you are ready to enter a YPM Group.
The Personal Success Wheel defines the seven areas that together add up to a happy, successful life. This information is adapted from Keith Ferrazzi’s new book, ‘Who’s Got Your Back?’ I would highly recommend you pick up a copy.
Today, let’s look at 3 areas (Financial Success, Professional Growth, Deep Relationshps) in depth. Tomorrow, we will look at the other 4.
Consider these questions while you are examining each segment:
- What areas do you see in yourself that could be strengthened? What knowledge, experience, training, and personal relationships do you need to get there?
- What steps do you need to take to make sure you have no regrets at the end of your life and career?
- What area of the wheel do you think most needs your attention right now and why?
- Where do you want to be ten years from now in your career? In your life?
- Three years from now?
1. Financial Success: Issues around money
Examples: Increasing your earnings, paying off debt, saving or investment goals
Questions:
- What do you define as financial success?
- Do you have a financial lesson to share with others?
- When do you want to retire?
- What needs to happen before you will consider yourself financially successful?
- Are there any areas in your life preventing you from financial success?
2. Professional Growth: Issues around career
Examples: Earning a promotion, learning a new skill, changing professions, or re-entering the workforce
Questions:
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- If you could change your career now, what would you do?
- If you could rewind and do over one mistake, what would it be?
- What 3 things you could learn to contribute to your career growth?
- What personal/professional accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
3. Deep relationships: Issues related to your family, close friends, lifeline relationships, and romantic relationships
Examples: Preparing to having a child, dating more frequently, or staying in closer touch with your parents.
Questions:
- Do you have a few or many deep friendships?
- Who is the most important relationship in your life right now?
- How would your best friend describe you?
- What are your greatest hopes and fears for your/our children in the next 25 years?
- If you had to choose one person who has most influenced the person you are today, who would it be and why?
